The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge, a nonpartisan political organization for men and women, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League neither supports nor opposes any candidate, party, or political appointee.

The League works to bring about constructive change by:

  • registering voters and defending voting rights,
  • informing citizens about their rights and responsibilities,
  • informing the public through our in-depth issue analyses,
  • sponsoring candidate debates and public issue forums,
  • taking action through lobbying for change.

VOTE411.org is now available to provide election and candidate information for the upcoming August 6th State/Federal Primary and State/County General Election. It includes candidates' biographical information and their responses to a standard set of questions.

Public Statement

February 14, 2020, is the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment, giving women the right to vote. The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge plans to celebrate the centennial with regional events this summer and fall, in conjunction with the Suffrage Coalition, a nonprofit group in East Tennessee.
